DANIEL Chapter 2:

Daniel 2… Let’s Read:

When Daniel and his three friends first came to Babylon they were teenagers and barely 14 years old.

They had to overcome many temptations and tests in the land of their exile. In addition they had to undergo intense learning and training programs for three years. They first had to learn the language, the culture, and literature of the Babylonians in order to serve the king.

Finally at the end of those three years, they were accepted to be amongst the wise men of Babylon, who were the advisors to the king on important matters.

King Nebuchadnezzar had 2 dreams. After he dreamed the first dream he found he could not fall asleep again. This dream troubled him so much.

The first dream:

King Nebuchadnezzar has a dream only Daniel could interpret

One night king Nebuchadnezzar had a dream. In the morning the king had forgotten what he had dreamed. It had been so vivid, and it had disturbed him very much.  When  he awoke he  could not remember anything of the dream.  He summoned his wise men to tell him what he had dreamed.

The wise men expected the king to tell them the dream first and then they would be able to tell the meaning of it. But the king had forgotten the dream. And when the king realized they could not tell him the dream, he said that he would have them all killed and their houses destroyed.

The wise men replied  that there is not a man, nor a ruler, or magician or wise man, which would be able to do that, except the gods only.

These wise men were referring to their idol gods.

Then king Nebuchadnezzar became very angry for he was a cruel and vicious king. So he issued a command that all the wise men in Babylon be killed.

When Daniel learned of the king’s brutal command, he asked to be taken to the king.  Daniel asked the king to allow him some time, after which he would show the king his dream.

Daniel went to his house and with the support of his three friends prayed to The Lord, to make known the dream, so that they would not perish with the other wise men.

They knew that this secret of the dream is known to Jehovah God. After praying Daniel received a Vision at night from God, who also gave him the meaning of the dream.

What is a Vision?

A vision is one way God makes Himself known to his prophets.

God makes secret things known to his prophet by giving the prophet a vision.

He sees things that has happened in the past or the future by vision and therefore can foretell dreams and future events.

So we see, Daniel saw the same thing that the king saw in his dream, because he, Daniel had a vision from God at night, wherein he saw the dream and the meaning of it.

In the morning Daniel asked to be taken before the king.

Remember none of the other wise men could tell what the king had dreamed and neither could they tell the king the meaning of the dream.

Daniel then told the king, that it was not because he had greater wisdom than any other man on earth, but that there is a God in Heaven, Who makes known secrets; and God also wanted the king to know what is to take place in the ages to come.

The king was anxiously waiting what he would hear Daniel say.

The King’s dream:

Daniel begins to tell King Nebuchadnezzar that he saw standing in the field a great image. This Statue (of a man) or image was made of 4 different metals. It was a huge and terrifying Image.

  1. THE Head was of fine Gold;
  2. The Shoulders and breast of Silver;
  3. Its Belly and Thigh of Brass;
  4. and IT’S Legs of Iron;
  5. and the feet of iron and clay.
  6. THEN A stone was cut out of a mountain without hands, which struck the Image at its feet
  7. IT crushed all the metals at the same time and blew them away like chaff
  8. And that stone which struck the Image grew into a great Mountain AND filled the earth.

So Daniel explained to the king that this was your dream; that God wanted you to know what would take place in latter days.

More anxiously the king waited yet dreaded to know the meaning of the dream.

The Meaning or interpretation of King Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream.

Daniel said, O, King, You are the Head of Gold… for God has given you much power over all the earth.  You are the greatest of all the kings.

After you shall arise another kingdom inferior to you; then another and another less great.

There will be a 3rd kingdom of brass which will reign over the whole earth. Then there will be a 4th kingdom of iron and then kings arising … a mixture of iron and clay, until the Stone will break all these in pieces. During the times of those kings, will the God of Heaven set up a kingdom that will never fall.

The Metals represent kingdoms.  Each one inferior and harder than the other. Weaker and more wicked than the previous one.

After the king heard Daniel explain the mystery of the Image that the king dreamed, the king fell down before Daniel and worshipped him. He said, Now I know that your God is above all other gods and kings, Your God is a revealer of secrets seeing your God has given you to reveal this secret.

King Nebuchadnezzar then made Daniel the chief of all the wise men in Babylon and Governor of all the province of Babylon. When Daniel heard this, he asked that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego also be placed over the affairs of the Provinces of Babylon.

Let us now talk about what is the Rock or Stone that was hewed out of the Mountain without hands… and that broke all the kingdoms, all the earthly kingdoms. All these earthly Gentile kingdoms will one day be no more because God will set up His Kingdom. God’s kingdom will have a king. The Lord Jesus will be the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and his kingdom will be everlasting.

Quote 1 WMB

Every orthodox believer here knows that the Gentile reign begin with King Nebuchadnezzar. Is that right? Every orthodox believer knows that. And King Nebuchadnezzar had a vision, and Daniel gave him the interpretation. Is that right? And it was a head of gold, which was the Babylonian; the second was the Medes and Persian; the next was the Grecian empire; then the Roman Empire. And at the end of the Roman Empire, Jesus Christ was the Rock that was hewed out of the mountain without hands that rolled in, and broke down the images (is that right?), covered the earth. Anyone knows that. Any believer knows that.

And how that in the last days when they broke up into these many different kingdoms, and so forth to the toes, there was iron and clay. And it means, the prophet said, “As much as thou did see iron and clay won’t mix together, neither will these cleave one to another.” But they’ll mingle them seeds, try… In other words, they’ll marry into them, trying to raise their children and break for the powers, like that. And you know that’s the truth. But a hold it’s got, and you people knuck down to it, “Oh,” say, “it’s wonderful

Quote 2 WMB

While Daniel being there he saw great visions and wrote concerning them for this great consolation that we have today, knowing and setting in order the end of the Gentile kingdom. Notice how perfect, just get it close now. He seen first the image standing in the field when he interpret the dream of the king. He was a spiritual man. He dreamed dreams, saw visions, interpret dreams. God was with him and everyone knew that too.

And when he saw the vision, the head of gold, and the breast here of silver, and the thighs of brass, and the feet of iron… Notice, each kingdom got a little harder. King Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom was the head of gold. He interpreted it, told him just exactly how those kingdoms would succeed each other unto the end.

Then notice, from gold is the softest; silver is next; then brass is next; then iron is next: harder, harder, colder, farther away. Notice. Then in the midst of all that, Daniel beheld the image until the Stone was hewed out of the mountain, that was cut out without hands, that rolled into the image and broke it and made it like wheat on the summer flash–threshingfloor, and the winds drive away, and the Stone grew into a great mountain that covered all the earth and the sea. That was the coming of the Lord Jesus, which is now at hand. BEGINNING.AND.ENDING.OF.THE.GENTILE.DISPENSATION
